At The Cooperative Bank, he led a pioneering programme of centralisation and call centre development, handling all types of retail products including credit cards. He has researched and written many collections of international case studies on the profitable development of omni-channel retail banking delivery strategies, digital branching and branch transformation. Other reports have covered self-service banking, mobiles, mutuals and SMEs. His publications have also included well received management guides to credit, debit and prepaid cards.

Long established as an examiner for the Chartered Institute of Bankers, he developed and ran its examination on consumer credit risk management. He is currently an examiner for the Retail Banking Academy. He was a panel member for the UK Banking Code Standards Board and acted as a judge for the major annual awards given by the Institute of Financial Services and the Asian Banker Journal, Singapore.
